Advent at FBC

November 27 was the first Sunday of Advent, and I wanted to thank Rev. Ben Neal for preaching in my absence. I missed being with you all but was grateful for time with extended family at Thanksgiving.

Advent is a four week period of preparation. It’s an important time to slow down and recognize the incredible gift that God has provided for us through his son Jesus Christ. Each Sunday, we will light candles on the Advent wreath to draw attention to the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. This journey of candle lighting will conclude on Christmas Eve with the lighting of the Christ candle.

I took some time to walk around the building to see the beautiful decorations. Thanks so much to our Hostess Committee for doing such a great job in getting us ready for the Advent season! Their contributions are going to enhance the upcoming worship services and experiences we are going to have as a church family.

The Advent Devotional Guides have been mailed out and there are a few extra copies available in the Garden Room. I look forward to reading this for the next several weeks and hope you’ll enjoy this FBC Clinton tradition as well.

Typically this time of year is busier for and more stressful on the church staff. Please be in prayer for us and especially the office staff and music ministry in their preparations for upcoming special events.

I know you’ll join me in praying for Jason and Amanda as the birth of their newborn draws near. Reiya will have a little brother soon, and we will all want to be a blessing to their family in the days to come.

Finally, if you have friends who aren’t involved in a church, it’s a good time to invite them to experience what’s going on at First Baptist Clinton. And, if you’ve recently moved into the area, let me welcome you to be part of our family of faith as we celebrate the birth of our Savior–DC
