10 Jan Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
January is named after the Roman god Janus who had two faces: one looking in front and one looking behind him. It’s an apt description for how we approach the beginning of a new year.
We finished 2024 with a meaningful Advent season. It was once again a great opportunity to renew our spiritual commitments to the Lord and our church. And the Christmas Eve service provided a beautiful culmination to the season.
Thank you for your faithfulness this past year. Every time I come to our buildings, I enjoy the new elevator, resurfaced parking lot and FLC gym floor (just in time for UPWARD). These are only a few of the improvements we’ve done this past year. The FLC steps and upgrading some entry protocols are next on the list.
Your ongoing financial support has made this possible, along with maintaining staff, ministries, and missions’ endeavors. Together, we will continue to make sure ministries are funded along with the staff who are leading them.
A new year is already ushering in some changes. We recently celebrated Mike’s 40 incredible years of service on the Audio-Visual team. Jason, as our staff liaison, has oversight of the AV ministry and I’m grateful he’ll make sure this work continues.
This ministry is increasing our witness for Christ both here in our worship services and beyond through our livestream. If you’d like to know more about this important ministry, please let Jason know.
Also, Terri has announced her retirement as Music Director effective December 31st. She has served effectively and well for six years, and her departure is a loss for us.
I will miss having her on staff and working alongside her each week. However, I thank God for Terri’s lasting contributions through her leadership, abilities, and friendship. She has left us in a good place with our Adult Choir and traditional worship service.
There’s a process in place for handling staff departures. So, let’s remain prayerful and expectant as we seek the Lord’s direction for this important part of our church’s life and ministry.
Remember, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13.8). So, let’s remain faithful to pray “not what I want, but what the Lord wants” for FBC Clinton in 2025–DC
