Four Fragile Freedoms Study begins January 12

“What makes a Baptist a Baptist?”

That’s a central question covered in Walter Shurden’s classic text “Four Fragile Freedoms.” It’s a work that has been around for decades and has been used repeatedly as a primer for reviewing historic Baptist distinctives.

There’s certainly a case to be made that denominations are losing their influence and importance. This is especially true of younger Christians. However, I believe it is imperative to review and revisit what being a Baptist is all about–especially where there are those who want to make the parameters of inclusion more and more narrow.

I’m looking forward to reading this book once again and sharing it with our people. There are copies available for purchase in the church office. I think this is worthwhile book and should be on the shelf of all of us who claim the name of Baptist–DC
