As Baptists, we are a confessional people rather than creedal. There is no one prescribed set of beliefs that a person must adhere to in order to be a member of this church. However, we are a “believers’ church” in that a person must be a Christian in order to be a member of our fellowship. Jesus Christ is proclaimed as “the way, the truth, and the life” in matters of eternal salvation, and as such we do our best to live out the Great Commission and Great Commandments.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the supreme authority for our faith and practice. The Bible is the record of God’s revelation to us and points to Jesus Christ, who is the revelation of God to us. The life and ministry of Jesus Christ is the hermeneutical lens that is used to view, interpret, and apply the sacred Scriptures. This does not mean that we all agree upon every area of Christian doctrine. We do our best to respect one another’s differences of opinion while learning and growing in Christlikeness. As a church, we do reflect and affirm the view that God’s calls and gifts both men and women to serve as deacons, ministers, and in other related vocational Christian ministries.
The confessional statement that most closely describes our beliefs is the 1963 Baptist Faith & Message.
